The Ogunquit Sustainability Committee’s mission is to provide research and make recommendations to the Select Board on issues relevant to environmental sustainability. The committee is dedicated to engaging residents, businesses and other stakeholders in our common pursuit for a more sustainable Ogunquit.

Areas of focus currently under discussion include:

  • Town-wide municipal trash pickup
  • Assessment of oceanside and riverside sustainability assets
  • Reduction of carbon footprint
  • Education and engaging citizens involvement
  • Low tech solutions with low financial impact
  • Promoting the PACE program
  • Stormwater management
  • Storm surge and beach erosion
  • Protecting the Ogunquit River Watershed and the Josias River Watershed for water quality
  • Developing and maintaining a web page with relevant information about sustainability in Ogunquit and southern Maine.
